Whale Sighting - Sat 29th May 2010

Number of Whales Seen : 0

Number of sightings on the 2010 Northern migration so far = 74.

Whales sighted off True Blue vessel Explorer: 13 whales, 220 Offshore or Oceanic Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), approx 50 Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops aduncus), 2 Australian Fur Seal. Flocks of Gannets, 16 Black Browed Albatross and plenty of Sea Gulls.

This afternoon True Blue Explorer headed out in moderate conditions with a slight NE breeze and 1/2 metre of swell. The whales have been quite allusive today the only sea life was 6 Bottlenosed Dolphins alongside the vessel for a short time.

The National Parks Whale Count Team Co-ordinator reported a pod of 2 humpbacks passing Cape Solander at 8 am this morning. Another 7 are on their way north popping into Jarvis Bay earlier today.
