Whale Sighting - Wed 9th Jun 2010

Number of Whales Seen : 2

Number of sightings on the 2010 Northern migration so far = 475.

Whales sighted off True Blue vessel Explorer: 23 whales, 220 Offshore or Oceanic Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), approx 50 Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops aduncus), 2 Australian Fur Seal. Flocks of Gannets, 20 Black Browed Albatross and plenty of Sea Gulls.

Today Explorer and her crew sighted 2 whales 4 mile East of the Heads. This pair were slowly swimming along displaying some nice fluke up dives. The beautiful Black Browed Albitross were out this afternoon as were the Shearwater sea birds.

The seas were good with only a 1 metre swell with a 20 Knot westerly.

Land based sightings reported.

6 from Sydney South Head and 6 coming from Jarvis Bay in the south and another 2 at Kiama.

They are all on their way north.
