Whale Sighting - Mon 14th Jun 2010

Number of Whales Seen : 6

Whales sighted off True Blue vessel Explorer this season: 58 humpback whales, 2 minke, 220 Offshore or Oceanic Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), approx 50 Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops aduncus), 2 Australian Fur Seal. Flocks of Gannets, 20 Black Browed Albatross and plenty of Sea Gulls.

On the morning cruise True Blue Explorer and crew sighted a single whale off Macquarie Light House. The crew followed this whale for a while as it slowly swam north.

2.5 mile East of South Head another whale was sighted displaying fluke up dives and 2 tail slaps.

The seas were moderate with 1m of confused swell.

There have been reports from the South Head spotter of more on their way up.

In the afternoon 2 whales spotted in close, just South off headland. 3 breaches were counted in total.

3 mile out 2 more were spotted relaxing. 8 breeches were counted in total for the afternoon along with fluke up dives & pectoral fin slaps.
