This morning started with beautiful calm seas, the best weather we've had since the beginning of the season.
1 single whale was spotted as soon as Explorer and her crew passed through the heads this morning. This humpback was just floating around having a rest as we passed by this whale heavy blows from another pod were sighted approx 2 mile further out.
This pod of 8 humpbacks were performing fluke up dives, pectoral fin slaps and some close spy hopping as they slowly swam north on their migration.
It is the breeding season and this group of whales was thought to be a competition pod. Explorer followed these whales for approx 2 hours.
In the afternoon 5 Humbbacks sighted just South of the heads. 1 single whale was spotted floating. Then a pod of 2 was discovered further South.
Over all a fantastic day for whale enthusiasts.
