Whale Sighting - Sun 20th Jun 2010

Number of Whales Seen : 6

Whales sighted off True Blue vessel Explorer this season: 72 humpback whales, 2 minke, 220 Offshore or Oceanic Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), approx 62 Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops aduncus), 2 Australian Fur Seal. Flocks of Gannets, 20 Black Browed Albatross and plenty of Sea Gulls.

The Captain on Explorer has reported lots of whale pods again today and they are currently following a pod of 2 humpbacks that were sighted just off Maroubra, with another pod of 2 just East of this group. As the Captain was reporting he sighted another 2 pods of 2 each coming up close behind the vessel. They are swimming slowly along displaying some excellent tail flukes and they swim slowly north. a competition pod has been sighted further out however it is time to return to Harbour for the afternoon cruise.
