Whale Sighting - Fri 25th Jun 2010

Number of Whales Seen : 13

Whales sighted off True Blue vessel Explorer this season: 115 humpback whales, 2 minke, 220 Offshore or Oceanic Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), approx 74 Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops aduncus), 2 Australian Fur Seal. Flocks of Gannets, 20 Black Browed Albatross and plenty of Sea Gulls.

Perfect conditions once again this morning. The Explorer saw 1 Single Whale and 2 pods of 2 Whales just off Sydney heads.

They then encountered another pod of 2 which joined up with the first 2 pods to total a group of 6. This now pod of 6 fortunately, for the passengers on board, were very curious of The Explorer and began to swim in circles around the boat. Many Fluke Up Dives & Head Lunges have been sighted.

Early in the afternoon 2 Humpbacks spotted directly between Sydney Headlands. A Second and then Third pod travelling in couples were seen not long after.

They were busier than the mornings pod and were more focused on wanting to get to their Northern destination.

Another amazing day with a total of 13 whales.
