Whale Sighting - Sat 26th Jun 2010

Number of Whales Seen : 10

Whales sighted off True Blue vessel Explorer this season: 125 humpback whales, 2 minke, 220 Offshore or Oceanic Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), approx 74 Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops aduncus), 2 Australian Fur Seal. Flocks of Gannets, 20 Black Browed Albatross and plenty of Sea Gulls.

This afternoon was again a superb outing with the majestic whales. The Captain reported that Explorer and her crew were following a pod of 2 humpbacks when another pod was spotted just shortly after and the whales were happy to cruise along stopping to display their energetic tail slapping techniques along with some very graceful fluke up dives. The Albatross, Sea Gulls and Gannets were also out this afternoon, a large pod of Dolphins were also making a splash as we cruised past. Another 2 whales were sighted along the return journey making the day a very special one for all onboard. The seas were gentle giving everyone the best chance at spotting the whales.

A total of 10 whales were sighted from the vessel today.
