Whale Sighting - Sun 4th Jul 2010

Number of Whales Seen : 7

Whales sighted off True Blue vessel Explorer this season: 205 humpback whales, 1 Southern Right, 2 minke, 220 Offshore or Oceanic Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), approx 84 Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops aduncus), 20 Common Dolphins, 2 Australian Fur Seal. Flocks of Gannets, 20 Black Browed Albatross and plenty of Sea Gulls.

2 Humpbacks sighted on AM cruise. Conditions are better than yesterday.

Although the weather conditions were looking quite grim, the True Blue Explorer & Kooee and their passengers had a wonderful afternoon. Just outside the Sydney Headlands, a pod of 3 whales were spotted breaching with some beautiful tail lobbing and slapping. Another pod of 2 whales were spotted close by, they were also performing some wonderful tail slapping and head lunging. The winds died down to around 5 knots making it a nice afternoon.

The dolphins were also out to play with both Bottlenosed and Common Dolphins riding the bow waves of the Kooee and Explorer. Completing a memorable afternoon.
