Whales sighted off True Blue vessel Explorer this season: 205 humpback whales, 1 Southern Right, 2 minke, 220 Offshore or Oceanic Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), approx 84 Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops aduncus), 20 Common Dolphins, 2 Australian Fur Seal. Flocks of Gannets, 20 Black Browed Albatross and plenty of Sea Gulls.
This morning both Explorer and Kooee cruised out in good conditions with their first sightings only half a mile off Sydney Heads. A pod of 5 gave excellent viewing with tail slapping and fluke up dives a plenty! Then off to find more whales that were spotted by our land based spotter past Macquarie Lighthouse.
A pod of 2 that were thought to have separated from the main group which were large males had made a splast further south. The Gannets were souring the troughs as the vessels returned to the harbour.
This afternoon a little humpback was making a splash and breached continuosly half a dozen times. Explorer headed south to another pod of 2 whales and then 2 more plus another two. On the return journey a single whale was sighted swimming slowly along.
Gannets were out this afternoon souring through the troughs.
A total of 8 whales sighted this afternoon.
