Whale Sighting - Tue 6th Jul 2010

Number of Whales Seen : 6

Whales sighted off True Blue vessel Explorer this season: 211 humpback whales, 1 Southern Right, 2 minke, 220 Offshore or Oceanic Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), approx 84 Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops aduncus), 20 Common Dolphins, 2 Australian Fur Seal. Flocks of Gannets, 20 Black Browed Albatross and plenty of Sea Gulls.

The AM cruise saw 1 single whale & 1 pod of 2 just off Sydney headlands. The whales were busy cruising North & some occasional fluke up dives were seen. The conditions were average with 1m of confused swell. No wind.

The PM cruise saw more action with 1 single whale & a pod of 2 off Diamond Bay. 1 Humpback put on a show breaching 5 times. They also saw Barrel Spins, Tail Slapping & many close encounters were seen with the Explorer.

The pod of 2 eventually joined up with the single whale to become a pod of 3. An exciting day had by all.
