

Whales sighted off True Blue vessel Explorer this season: 259 humpback whales, 3 Southern Right, 2 minke, 220 Offshore or Oceanic Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), approx 84 Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops aduncus), 20 Common Dolphins, 2 Australian Fur Seal. Flocks of Gannets, 20 Black Browed Albatross and plenty of Sea Gulls. 4 Fiary Penguins.
This morning a pod of 2 whales were sighted only 400 metres off Sydney Heads. Followed by more whales following just south of this pod.
A report of 2 Southern Rights were spotted however on approach they were also Humpbacks. Explorer followed these for a short time today also.
A total of 19 were sighted this morning making it a sensational day on the water. Lots of action throughout the morning made it one of the best whale encounters on record.
Energetic displays of Tail lobbing, slapping, fluke up dives, Breaching and the pods swimming very close to the vessel.
As the afternoon cruise cruised out through Sydney Heads a pod of two humpbacks were reported by the Captain only metres from the entrance. Another pod were spotted shortly after and one burst out of the water like a missile right beside the boat.
Spellbinding the passengers as it crashed back down on the ocean top making an incredible splash. 40 tonne of flesh propelling it's whole body out of the water is an awesome sight.
Another pod of 2 were sighted shortly after with a frenzy of tail slapping, fluke up dives and close encounters Explorer cruised home.
A total of 23 whales sighted today.
