Whale Sighting - Tue 20th Jul 2010

Number of Whales Seen : 5

Whales sighted off True Blue vessel Explorer this season: 325 humpback whales, 3 Southern Right, 3 minke, 220 Offshore or Oceanic Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), approx 94 Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops aduncus), 20 Common Dolphins, 3 Australian Fur Seal. Flocks of Gannets, 22 Black Browed Albatross, and plenty of Sea Gulls. 4 Fairy Penguins.

The morning cruise was cancelled due to the very high seas and strong winds.

The afternoon cruise departed in sunny conditions with a brisk breeze blowing. The seas have subsided a little and the winds slowed.

The whales seem to be a little scarce for the day with 1 Humpback on a mission North. They say one slow day can mean a busier one the day after for the Humpbacks so fingers crossed we will see more action tomorrow.
