Whale Sighting - Mon 26th Jul 2010

Number of Whales Seen : 7

Whales sighted off True Blue vessel Explorer this season: 350 humpback whales, 3 Southern Right, 3 minke, 220 Offshore or Oceanic Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), approx 94 Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops aduncus), 20 Common Dolphins, 3 Australian Fur Seal. Flocks of Gannets, 22 Black Browed Albatross, and plenty of Sea Gulls. 4 Fairy Penguins.

Today the seas were good and the whales were out. This morning a pod of 2 humpbacks were sighted just 2 miles off Bondi Beach then another 2 and another 2 after that. The first couple werent very playful however the next pod displayed some nice tail flukes and had lots of surface time for the passengers to get a birds eye view of these massive creatures.

The afternoon cruise found a single whale only 2.5 miles off the heads. It was on a roll with stunts one after another.

It has been nick named the stuntman doing every trick in the book. From pec slaps to tail lobs breaching rolling over spy hopping swimming within metres of the vessel for most of the afternoon. Continuous action thrilling all onboard.

The Captain said in over 25 years on the oceans that is in the "top 10" performances. Amazing. Footage will be on Channel 7 tonight and testimonials from our passengers. You just have to be out there and it may be your lucky day. Today certainly was for our passengers.

Check out the footage at Yahoo 7.
