Whale Sighting - Tue 27th Jul 2010
Number of Whales Seen : 24Whales sighted off True Blue vessel Explorer this season: 357 humpback whales, 3 Southern Right, 3 minke, 220 Offshore or Oceanic Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), approx 94 Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops aduncus), 20 Common Dolphins, 3 Australian Fur Seal. Flocks of Gannets, 22 Black Browed Albatross, and plenty of Sea Gulls. 4 Fairy Penguins.
The AM trip saw 2 whales south of Sydney headlands. They were watched for 45min close to Bronte beach.
1 single whale was spotted off Manly with a pod of 2 not far from it 1.5 mile from Manly beach.
On the journey home a pod of 2 were spotted along with a competition pod of 6. One last but not least single whale was spotted off the Sydney heads. Many fluke up dives were seen and the passengers were thrilled to see so many!
On the PM cruise a pod of 4 were seen in close to headlands. 1 single whale was spotted.
A pod of 3 and a pod of 2 were seen to top of a fantastic day for sighting with a total of 24 whales!
A lot of double breaching was seen along with fluke up dives and pectoral slapping.
