Whale Sighting - Fri 30th Jul 2010

Whales sighted off True Blue vessel Explorer this season: 383 humpback whales, 3 Southern Right, 3 minke, 220 Offshore or Oceanic Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), approx 150 Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops aduncus), 20 Common Dolphins, 3 Australian Fur Seal. Flocks of Gannets, 22 Black Browed Albatross, and plenty of Sea Gulls. 4 Fairy Penguins

The AM cruise saw 1 pod of 2 with Fluke Up dives. The morning whales were not in a showy mood today but the big blows from these amazing creatures was enough for passengers to get excited about. There were many common dolphins seen on the journey home which was an added bonus.

The PM cruise saw more action with 5 pods of 2 there seemed to be whales everywhere! 1 close breach near the boat was thrilling for all. Spotted just 1 mile south of Sydney headlands.

A further 2 pods of 3 were sighted. Perfect conditions on the sea with no wind.
